One of the most popular posts I've made is "Slow Coach" by Garth Dennis.
This 45 is one of my all time favorites and I'm happy that I still have it after all these years. Sometime ago Garth Dennis himself found the post and commented. More recently the producer of this single, Roydale Anderson (Andy) visited this site and commented as well.
I wanted to take a moment and remind everyone to please support creative and positive artists such as them.

Barry Brown - Superstar

This one is Barry Brown "Superstar" - an LP I remember quite well buying in those days.

Check out Barry - he doesn't "look" Rasta in this picture but I tell you, he sings pure roots and culture. After not having this LP for years, I found it on the web and was happy to hear it again. I would give credit to where the original poster but I don't recall where I found it and cannot seem to find it again.

I don't know how people feel about reposting LPs.

On one hand I see some people get upset by it, on the other, I have seen other blogs repost some of my collection (e.g. the Garth Dennis single and others I can tell from the picture) and really I don't mind. This music is very hard to find so I feel the more we share the better. If you are the original poster of this and want me to take it down, just let me know and I will.

Tomorrow I will get my turntable back and will make time to record some of my collection to share. For now, I am happy to share with you that I have found one of my favorite DJ albums on this blog. This is one of the LPs that I have really missed having for all these years.

I read people having different views about this album - but for me, it is pure dread and roots.

Produced by Prince Tony with some rhythms by Yabby You and hard lyrics throughout.

I have not posted in a long time. Many things have been going on. Money problems, relation problems, job problems - I think you know what I mean. These days too many problems and tribulations. So now... I return with this GEM of a tune. It is "Can't Keep A Good Man Down" by the Immortals. Mixed by King Tubbys and with production team including Augustus Pablo - so you know it is well dread. This is one to TURN UP and enjoy the deep rolling bass.

Hello Friends. Today I post something different - not Reggae but a very soulful album by William DeVaughn. Several songs on this LP have been covered by Jamaican artists. Maybe you have heard those versions and now you can hear the originals. The title track was a big hit. I remember when I first heard it thinking that maybe this was Curtis Mayfield. Another favourite track of mine is Blood is Thicker Than Water.

Again no picture in the post because I don't know how to make that good.

On one side we have Willie Williams singing us the dread "Armagideon" and on the other we have keyboard virtuoso Jackie Mittoo "In Cold Blood".
I honestly cannot say which track I like more.

They are both scorchers!

Mohamed I

This one is for "The Fig".
She asked me to make mp3s of this LP by Mohamed I and the I&I Sound months ago.
This LP is very curious both in it's sound, label and line up.
The sound: first of this is a reggae album - but with an Islamic twist. The singer (Mohamed I) makes some Islamic references but also talks about Jah and Selassie. I'm not sure when the LP was recorded but would guess it was the in the 80s.
The album is on the I&I Sound record label - which was known to make very roots music especially with the artist A. Doeman whose name appears in the credits on this album. Here's a link showing the Natty Result album by A. Doeman.

Things get stranger with the line up though. Between some Google works and my memory of the times here's what I can tell you:

Mohamed I - no idea who he is and no other album that I know of.
Frankie Jones (background vocals) seems to have made several records
Robert Turman - one of the original members of experimental/noise/industrial band NON
Coozie Mellers (dj) - his name appears on various reggae records on the Bullwackies label
Timothy Hendricks (drums) - seems to be the band leader for an ambient dub group called 23 degrees
Steve Potterf (bass) seems to have played bass for a punk/r&b group called the Crawdaddys but shows up on some other I&I records
Paris Treantafeles - his name shows up on other I&I releases with credits in mixing and drums - but seems like now he does something with graphics and game music?

And there are several other people listed that I don't know anything about - but as you can see, the line up is a bit unusual.

As far as I know, this album has been out of print for a long time so I am happy to share it with you.

The African Brothers Band - Me Poma

Just last week I was telling my friend Anja that many years ago I had this album from Ghana that I used to listen to alot. So then how strange that yesterday I found a box of cassettes and among them I found a cassette that I made of this very album! So my friends, this is a cassette rip but still to be enjoyed and as far as I can tell this album is not available for sale so I am happy to share it with you.
